dacha

well the snow eased and after a tad of recording we headed to nomys parents dacha (summer house). which was about 30 miles from syk..situated next to a lake and surrounded by forest, it was very tranquil..we drank russian vodka and albanian cognac and i had my first experience of a banya (equivalent to a sauna). which consists of stripping off and getting beaten with birch twigs in extreme heat. i could get used to it to be honest...

  1. Ooh, how much russian vodka are you allowed to bring back without arousing suspicion from the people with dogs and guns at the airport?
I will pay handsomely for the real stuff.

Oh and thanks for not posting pics of you being banya'ed. It's appreciated.

  3. Ooh!!! Russian banya is the greatest thing!!! In our republic there are some villages, where banyas are called "In a black way" cause the oven's smoke doesn't leave through a pipe....& it's getting very dark inside it....Inexpressible sensations.... Terribly enough....))) Brrrr....!!! Among this, it's really great to go into banya in the winter...& after staying here & getting really heat u'll jump into the snow outside - u'll get pleasant prickings on a body...mmmmmm....

    So....Do u like Komi?.... :-)))
